MEDITERRANEAN ANTIPASTO

MEDITERRANEAN ANTIPASTO, or appetizer is a typical part of a meal in many Mediterranean countries and Greece is one such country that borders the Mediterranean Sea. So, It is easy to understand how the geographical location influences not only the culture and climate but the also the cuisine.

Greek cuisine is rich in tradition and has so many tastes and choices that that you can really start and finish your meal only with starters, actually antipasti could make a whole meal.


Some Traditional Greek Antipasto are:

Melitzanosalata, a paste from eggplant, or Taramosalata, another paste made from fish roe, or probably the most well known mix of yogurt, garlic and cucumber that is called Tzatziki. These are all traditionally served with slices of toasted traditional bread or used as a topping for vegetables.

Small tasty
meatballs are also traditional antipasti and can be made from meat, potatoes and vegetables, or fish mixed with local spices or a vegetarian option of mixed vegetables.

Soups are included as antipasti and the most famous Greek soup is Avgolemono which is made with eggs and lemon.

The Greeks are famous for their Dolmadakia, or vine leaves stuffed with spiced rice and minced meat.

And the best of them all is the so called Tyropitakia... Feta cheese, considered to be the Greek national cheese wrapped in filo pastry ...Try this Great Mediterranean Antipasto.
