ALFREDO SAUCE

A rich, creamy, delicious pasta sauce... a staple of every pasta lover's recipe box...

Alfredo sauce is a very traditional sauce invented in Rome by Alfredo di Lelio. It is made with two simple ingredients... butter and Parmesan cheese...

The simple version of this delicious pasta sauce recipe has many variations using heavy cream and assorted extra ingredients which contribute to a more consistent and tasty sauce.

Experiment with adding various spices, veggies, and meats to the simple recipe below for your own unique and creamy sauce.



TRY THIS SIMPLE VERSION OF THE SAUCE

pasta alfredo
Serves: 6

Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:
3 cups heavy cream
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Directions:
Combine the cream and butter in a saucepan.
Bring to a simmer and cook for 2 minutes.
Remove from heat.
Stir in half of the Parmesan cheese.
Add salt and pepper.
Gently mix the warm sauce with freshly cooked pasta and serve with grated Parmesan cheese along side.

This sauce is also wonderful with lasagna or ravioli.
